A 18-year-old man suspected of murder in Iowa was shot and killed by police in Southern California, authorities said.
A U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, comprised of personnel from the Marshals and multiple Southern California police departments, investigating the whereabouts of Victor Delgadillo, 18, responded to an industrial park in Anaheim Friday afternoon, according to an Anaheim Police Department press release.
Multiple officers opened fire, killing Delgadillo and sending a bystander to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the department.
The task force found a firearm at the scene of the shooting but what led to the shooting is unclear.
"Task Force personnel and Anaheim Police contacted the suspect, and an officer-involved shooting occurred," the press release said.
Witnesses: 15 to 20 shots fired
Witnesses reported to local media that approximately 15 to 20 shots were fired.
"I didn't hear (officers) before yell for the guy to put his hands up or stop," Donovan Jimenez told ABC affiliate KABC. "Afterwards, they did. From there, we kind of saw the whole medical team come,"
An investigation into the shooting is underway.
Delgadillo wanted on murder charges
Delgadillo was wanted on murder charges in relation to a shooting in Iowa June, according to a Marshalltown Police Department press release.
The June 1 shooting occurred at a Marshalltown bar, approximately 50 miles northeast of Des Moines, and resulted in the death of 41-year-old Ramon Alexis Feliciano Nieves, according to the Marshalltown police.
A 15-year-old male was arrested on marijuana possession and accessory-after-the-fact charges relating to the shooting.
